Having been somewhat tentative and slow to engage with AI I have started to have a few conversations about my interest in the nature of mind. What strikes me most is not how intelligent and insightful the AI appear to be but just how jarring their mastery of language is. They may (or may not) utter falsities but do so with exquisitely perfect and, frankly, uncomfortable eloquence. While managing to appear intelligent in so many regards, their artificiality is deafening. So it seems that Artificial Intelligence is an incredibly apt moniker.
